Marin Bike Racing Tradition Continues with Twilight Criterium
PRO CYCLING’S CARRERA DE SAN RAFAEL IS BACK FOR ITS 10TH YEAR

San Rafael, Calif. (July 29, 2008) - With the Tour de France over,
attention among Bay Area cycling fans now turns to Marin, where
professionals will amass for the Carrera de San Rafael Twilight
Criterium on Aug. 9, 2008, to go mano-a-mano in what is now a 10-year
racing tradition.

San Rafael will remake its downtown business district for the race,
offering every fan a free front-row view as the drama of high-speeds,
tight corners, strategic teamwork, and unavoidable crashes play out
within the peloton.

"The Carrera de San Rafael bike race we will have in downtown this
year promises to be more exciting and bigger than ever," San Rafael
Mayor Albert Boro said. "This is a great example of the types of
activities that make our downtown a destination place for all of
Marin’s residents."

Every year the race attracts hundreds of elite athletes and more than
10,000 spectators. It is a fact not lost on the community, according
to Haden Ongaro, chair of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce.

"I am thrilled to see a healthy family event which brings new people
to our wonderful downtown area supporting our local merchants,
restaurants and hotels," Ongaro said. "San Rafael residents get a
taste of world-class bike racing in their own backyard. The twilight
start time--with the sun setting behind Mt. Tam--will beautifully
illuminate the race course and surrounding buildings."

Seagate Properties, owners of San Rafael’s Montecito Plaza on Third
Street, has been the proud sponsor of the professional men’s race for
three years.

"We are pleased to return for another year as the presenting sponsor
of this dynamic and family friendly event," said Dennis Fisco of
Seagate Properties. "It fits perfectly in our downtown and the quality
of racing is high, so we wanted to ensure that this event continues to
occur and continues to be enjoyed by thousands of people including our
many tenants and associates, as well as the volunteers and team
members."

Spectators can enjoy a day of shopping and dining in San Rafael’s
popular downtown area or take in an event expo of local vendors, while
enjoying up close and personal access to the athletes in the Pro
Athlete Village. And it is all for free.
