re: Tuesday Nights - points racing every Tuesday through September to help riders have more fun at the track, to prepare them for States and Nationals, and to help give them the timing and speed that they need to win criteriums too. Tonight is going to be HOT! We'll start racing tonight @ 7pm. C's for 30 laps, B's for 30 laps, C's for 30 laps, A's for 40 laps, B's for 40 laps, A's for 50 laps

re: Categories - you will need to be a USCF Category 1, 2 or 3 to start the points races at States and Nationals. Since we are just weeks away from these events you really ought to think about upgrading NOW.

re: Points Race Clinic (San Jose Velodrome July 13 from 4-7pm) unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate all the riders that showed interest. The good news is that we are taking 45 riders into this clinic and that I have recruited some excellent coaches to help the lucky riders. I will post the 45 names, the waiting list, updates and notes from the clinic on our team blog (www.teamspecializedracing.com) in our blog section under the July 13 date. Please contact me immediately if you can not attend the clinic so that the spot may be given to another rider.

Points Race Clinic notes:
- the clinic will be a combination of auditory, visual, written and kinetic learning. You are encouraged to get your workout in before the clinic. Read: little chance of maximum efforts!
- Juniors will be on the track until 4pm, and we will not interfere with their workout. Please plan to arrive before 4pm so that you have time to sign-in, pay $30 (to NCVA if you have a check), get your number, set up your gear, and be ready for a paceline warm-up at 4pm.
- I am pleased that these 45 athletes will receive expert assistance from Dan Smith (Morgan Stanley, www.sportvelo.com) and my teammates Mike Audley and Leonard "Harvey" Nitz. For those that are relatively new to this sport "Harvey" is the master. Not only was Harvey a member of 4 USA Olympic teams (1976, 1980, 1984 and 1988) but he also won Olympic medals (bronze in the individual pursuit and silver in the team pursuit at the 1984 Olympics), but he was also a silver medalist at the 1986 UCI World Championships in Colorado Springs. I've been honored to be his teammate for the past 15 years. I've learned so much from him. He is directly responsible for all of the points race knowledge I've gathered so am I not only proud to share what I've learned about points racing, but the lucky 45 attendees will have the chance to learn from the best.

Re: Track Nationals: the points races at Masters Track nationals are going to be absolutlely amazing. If you are not racing please plan to come out and watch some great racing. Check out the schedule on www.ridethetrack.com
