After sending out the note that one of the teachers Anne works with lost her kid's bikes in a house robbery, we received an overwhelming number of offers to help. Here's a note that Anne asked me to send out to our wonderful cycling community. A heartfelt thanks to everyone.

She felt that they could have taken anything of hers, but to have them take something from her children was too much. I felt that maybe the cycling community might be able to help, so I asked Kevin to post a plea. Help did come. In leaps and bounds, and with great kindness. The kindess gift of help though has to be from Mary Ann Parker. She is the mother of John Peckman. She has offered to not only purchase new bicycles in John's memory, but has also offered to buy new helmets, tires and bicycle bags to carry those tires in. I have accepted her generous offer on my co-teachers behalf. So thank you to all who took the time to write with offers of help. I can't tell you how heartwarming this is and how truly thankful I am to know so many wonderful people. Thank you all.

I'm sure Mary Ann would not mind that I share with you a request that she is making of the boy's who lost their bikes. She wants them to be safe and learn safety. She wants them to wear their helmets and learn how to change the tires on their bikes. She wants those children to be protected and she wants them to learn how to ride in traffic. She worries about them, now more than ever...about the safety of anyone on a bike. I second her on all points. I hope you do too. Be safe out there. If not for your sake, for John's.
