[NCNCA] 4/5 upgrades

Yeah, that's exactly the problem. You race to survive, you race to "not
crash" which means you're NOT RACING. And your reward is you STILL get to
ride with Cat 5's after you survive your 10 races, and the crash risk is no
different.

I think there are a LOT of us who aren't racing for the goodies -- we race
for pure. So keeping Cat 4 and Cat 5 together, combined with the Masters
attitude that they simply presume I'm a crash-happy idiot, so they don't
want me in their races either, has led me to basically write off the whole
Cat 5 vs Cat 4 discussion.

The way it's set up now, I don't get fun & safe racing until Cat 3, and I
probably won't ever get there.

Yeah I know I sound like a poor sport, but that IS the system as it exists
today -- I'm SAFE and COURTEOUS on the bike, and I love to race just for the
fun of racing, but I'll never make Cat 3. So I don't care at all about
moving from Cat 5 to Cat 4 -- it's a 100% irrelevant transition.

We do....

upgrade

field of 100, one person goes home with a tire, another with a voler
gift certificate. Hardly making your entry fee back.

In the end, you will have more changes over the years to earn your
money back than most other sport/hobbies you could chose. So make it
through 10 races safely with only one sprint and then move on to the
big time payouts in the 4's...

sorry for the warped opinion~
