OK, since everyone is asking, here is my opinion on women's race categories. Most races will only be willing and able to do 2 women's categories at the most. So fields are combined often 1/2/3 and 3/4 or even open categories so everyone can race. I would rather have less combining of fields even if it means not everyone can race every day. Who realistically races both days every weekend in Norcal? OK, a few of us crazies. For example, if a saturday crit had a womens p/1/2 and a separate cat 3 race (so the 4s can't race) and then the sunday crit had a women's p/1/2 and and a separate 4s race (so no racing for the 3s that day) I would like it better. I also think that when women masters events are combined with other fields, they are more appropriately combined with the 3s than the 4s. So a p/1/2 and a masters/cat3 could be another option. I think the 4s should get the opportunity to race by themselves most of the time. I think this could help lead to bigger fields. It might require a little coordination between races occurring on the same weekend, but that seems doable. Thanks!Soni
