Kevin- can you please post the attached file to the track website and calendar? Thank you for all that you do for the track.
Everyone else- this is my third year of promoting races at the track. The points race series worked well for a number of reasons, mostly because it is endurance based, but also because there was one start time for each group. The real reason a series succeeds is because of the rider turnout so thank you for supporting your track!
After our first week I want to change things up. We will move the one-group warm-up up to 6:30pm and the first group will start racing at 7pm. We will split the riders up into three groups and each group will race twice (e.g. C-B-C-A-B-A). Yes, there can be a world of difference between a 40 and 80 lap race, but the two races per night will still allow for some great racing -and- fitness building, the whole reason that this is a training series!
As is stated in the flyer, intentionally lapped riders can stay in the race but can not influence the outcome of the event, nor can they participate in the final sprint. Lapped riders that are still in contention are encouraged to gain their laps back!
The new format also allows for more socializing and for the experienced riders to share their experiences with the new riders. New riders- keep on asking your questions!
Scratch races every Tuesday in April, June and August
Points races every Tuesday in May, July and September (also three groups with two races each, break for Masters Nationals)
