Hi there. This is just a quick reminder that there are a couple of opportunities to break away from the relatives, food and drinking to exercise at the track this weekend.
- Friday night racing returns! There's a worthwhile fund raiser (and great racing for all licensed categories) starting with an extended warm-up at 3pm, followed by racing at 5pm. See all the details below.
- Saturday morning "beginner" session starts at it's usual 8:30am (52 weeks a year!... excluding rain). Matt Martinez lead this session.
- Saturday afternoon "intermediate" session starts after the beginner session (no later than noon) until 2pm (or so). We're trying to make these 4th Saturday of the month coaching sessions a regular thing. Intermediate sessions will help to prepare your skills for track racing. Please note that you will need 3 beginner sessions before riding in an intermediate session. Tomorrow we will focus on sprinting, and I'm not talking about just match sprinting. Matt Martinez and I will lead this session.
See you there!Larry Nolan

PROMAN Track Racing Team - UCI
Needs Your Help
Press Release
PROMAN Races UCI World CupsWe need your help!
The Proman UCI Track Racing Team is set to embark on it's first journey overseas to enter into international competition! As we continue to finalize our travel arrangements and accommodations for this two week journey, we are faced with the inevitable challenge of racing abroad - financial support. Recently we were dealt a blow, finding out that we would not be able to stay in the athlete housing facility in Beijing, as expected. We were able to secure a hotel room, but as one can imagine, this greatly increases the cost of our stay in Beijing. Needless to say, we are extremely grateful for the host housing we will have in Sydney! We have been so fortunate to have already received generous donations from our supporters, which have covered our flight expenses, but PROMAN still needs of your help! The team is doing everything we can to work within our budget and keep costs down. Donations are greatly and thankfully accepted. We are excited to announce a fundraising event as well, to take place at the Hellyer Velodrome - food, drinks, and fun racing for all! For details, please visit our website at www.ridetheworldcups.comIt is overwhelming and exciting to think that we will be racing in Australia and China in less than 2 weeks! This maiden voyage is one that we will never forget, one that we are approaching with great humility, respect, and passion. On behalf of the PROMAN Track Racing Team, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us thus far. Over the next 2 weeks we hope to see continued support of our journey.

Hellyer Fundraiser Points Race Series
World Cups are the creme de la creme of cycling. Road, Track, Cross and MTB's all have a World Cup series. Points in these series accrue for the both the rider and the Nation, these points secure Olympic spots for each country. For example, a country like Jamaica will only be allowed to start 1 rider in the road race, but the US, Italy, Spain etc will get to start the maximum of 5 (because they have the most points). The individual points leaders in each country will earn automatic spots on the Olympic team. Long story short, this being an Olympic year, UCI points are at a premium.
Track racing differs from road as the large majority of teams racing World Cups are representing National Federations (rather than sponsors). Not many US trade teams have ever raced (overseas) World Cups. US consistently sends a rotating national team.
One of the biggest challenges for the international track athlete is building and keeping World class form in the middle of the winter. Special thanks to all those opening up the track and their workout session to help Dave and Shelley train. In addition to the extra training sessions, Matt Martinez and Rob Evans are hosting a series of World Cup "Tune-Up" races @ Hellyer. We are asking you get your off-season butt off the couch and throw everything you have at David and Shelley...even if it's only for a few laps you can help contribute to some much needed suffering.
Each race will be the final step in their preparations and act as a send off party. 100% of the proceeds will help fund the trips. Even if you don't want to race you can show up and support, eat BBQ and drink like a Belgian. - Rob Evans
Congratulations to Hellyer Park Velodrome on securing 2008 Masters Track Nationals!
