      Hi Erik -

According to Mike and the contractors, even though there is a sealer yet to put down, the asphalt is cured enough to ride on.

    Thanks,

        Kevin

Kevin,

We are all definitely excited to ride on the renovated track and look forward to the announcement that it is ready to go.

I am concerned whether the asphalt has cured enough for bicycles to be on it. As you know, people walking put very little pressure a road surface (the weight is spread across the entire shoe) but a rider on a track bike will put a very, high concentrated load (due to the very small contact patch) on the surface. If the asphalt hasn't cured enough, the tires could easily create indentations that will be permanent. It would be a drag to say the least to jump the gun a week or two early and put indentations that we get to see for years to come.

Has the construction company indicated the asphalt is cured enough for bicycles to ride on it? While it would be great to get on the track on Sunday, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Ciao,

EO

All of us involved with getting the track ready to ride on, now that the apron and warm up circle are completed, would like to apologize to everyone that was looking forward to riding the track this weekend. We simply don't know if the track is ready, and won't know until Saturday afternoon. An announcement will be made Saturday afternoon as to any riding on Sunday, and the schedule thereafter. If there is riding on Sunday, it'll be an open session for intermediate and advanced riders starting at 8am. No first time riders and no bike rentals.
So please, accept our apologies for any inconveniences and watch your e-mail for updates. Until then, the track is still closed.
      Thanks for your patience. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~
