As the velodrome construction winds down and the racing winds up, we're holding the first post construction match sprint day next Saturday, June 23.
The track will open for warm up and registration at 12 noon with the first 200's off at 1pm.
Rather than a pure tournament, we're going to run this event like the last one in March - after the 200's, the riders will be divided into groups of six, based on 200 meter time. This will allow riders with similar times to race each other - more fun and a better learning experience. Each rider will race three two-ups and one three-up within the group. Obviously, we may not have the exact numbers to stick exactly with the plan, but that's the general idea.
If we have the time, and folks want to do more sprints after everyone is finished, we can probably do that as well.
As usual the racing is $10 and if you haven't ridden on the track since the construction started, you'll need to fill out a new release form.
We'll also have NCVA membership forms available if you're interested in joining. Five bucks for 2007 and have a say in how the velodrome is managed.
We're planning on one more Sprint Day before Masters State Championships. It will take place on Saturday, July 7, a change from the original date of July 8. Check the web site calendar for more details.
There'll be at least one more Sprint Day after the July event, Sunday morning August 19. Details on that when we get closer to the date.
For now though, hope to see all of our sprinters next Saturday, the 23rd at the new and improved Hellyer Park Velodrome.
