Tom; I agree with Kevin Worley. The change is great. I am glad that you took
Larry Nolan's idea and ran with it. Harvey Nitz and I have had the same
discussion and he could not understand why it took so long to change the age
groupings for the "Oly" sprint. Please tell the Board of Trustees to stand
their ground with the big donor. Many of the riders who compete at Masters
Natz do not go to Masters Worlds for one reason or another. With Masters
Worlds taking place in Australia the next 3 years there is a good chance
that the American numbers will decrease. Who said that our Natz have to
copycat Worlds anyway. Take a look at elite Worlds. They will be competing
in the 500 and kilo which were deleted from the Olympics. Tom, here is
something to put in the back of your mind. With more and more Masters racing
longer there may in the future be a need for M60+ team pusuit and "Oly"
sprint. Recently USA cycling told the M70+ riders that if they could get
enough riders they would consider having M70+ fields. Right now there aren't
enough M60+ riders to fill a field in the team pursuit but you knows what
can happen at a later date. In summary please tell the Board to stand their
ground on the fellow with the deep pockets. I have an idea who he may be and
I am surprized that he brought the subject up. Lastly, since this is a
trackie topic I think you should post all of these exchanges on the Hellyer
link. I am sure that we are boring the "roadie" population with talk about
something as esoteric as the "Oly" sprint. Thanks for reading. Joe Fineman
