[NCNCA] Regarding the juniors cat's

I hear you, Jason.
In previous years there was never a problem with overloading in the
juniors at Cherry Pie, so I was quite surprised this time around.

I received so many e-mails from juniors who were shut out that something
had to be done. Otherwise we were going to have a line at Registration
at 7:00 in the morning of juniors and parents trying to get a good place
on the waiting list for the race. No doubt a lot of very, very
disappointed people who would have driven a long way early in the
morning.

Also, it's really not fair to have a juniors point series and not to
permit all the contenders to compete. Even if it means, as in this case,
that the competitors won't get a full sweat up.

I hate to think that Cherry Pie bit off more than we can chew by joining
the junior points series, but we have a bunch of disappointed
recumbent/HPV riders and master + cat.3 women to answer to for even
having offered the two junior fields. Perhaps we should have done it
like Martinez and just have one single field for 75 riders. Of course,
then we wouldn't be part of the Series, and we'd only be offering 1/2 as
many juniors the opportunity to race.

Anyway, this is my first year on the job and I've learned a lot. A
last-minute change is not a good thing, nor is disappointing people. But
the race is going to be a heck of a lot of fun, nonetheless. I'm happy
knowing that a large portion of the guys and gals in the 15-16 and 17-18
fields are also racing "full-term races" in the elite later. It's also a
nice bonus that the juniors fields will likely be a bit smaller and in
any case more similar in quality on a challenging course in potentially
poor weather.

And there will be some prizes/primes for the juniors in addition to the
pies. I don't know what, but they do deserve some special schwag for
enduring my craziness.

Jesster
